Kristen Mangione,Ā the Dance Alchemist, brings an extensive background in professional dance, teaching, the healing arts and metaphysical studies to Dance Alchemy for the Soul.

Dance Alchemy for the Soul is the brainchild and synthesis of her over 25 years in these areas and her mission that all people know themselves as creative and creators as an expression of the Divine.


Kristen has danced for choreographers in New York City including Bill T. Jones, Nancy Zendora and Chris Ferris. She has worked in arts administration and production for American Ballet Theatre, The Juilliard School and Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. Her choreography has been performed in New York City, New Jersey, New England, Chicago and London. She has also collaborated with artists in the visual arts, ambient music and opera, both for the stage and most recently for the screen. Her current project, "Mapping the Heart" explores the expansion of consciousness, and features music by Grammy-nominated composer Steve Roach.

She began studying dance from a young age. She is a graduate of Smith College, the Five College Dance Department and the Laban Centre, London, UK. She attended the Somerset County HS Performing Arts "FAME" Program where she was twice selected for the "Most Outstanding Student" Award and was a NJ Governor's Scholar in Dance.

Passionate about dance, as well as the healing arts and self-development, she has taught Eastern philosophy, Chinese medicine, and movement mechanics in bodywork at the internationally recognized Ohashi Institute in New York City where she was mentored by the Shiatsu Master Ohashi. She has also worked with over 1,000 clients in bodywork therapy and Chinese Medicine. A Certified Reiki Master and meditation teacher, Kristen has trained in traditional Zen practice at Dai Bosatsu Zendo, a Rinzai Zen Buddhist monastery located in New York's Catskill Mountains.

In addition to leading Dance Alchemy for the Soul, she teaches Zena Rommett Floor-Barreā„¢ and Modern/Jazz Dance based in the Simonson Method of Teacher Training. She is the founder of ZenSpace Studios, located in Hoboken, NJ which has been home to multiple offerings in dance and wellness for over a decade.

Kristen has led retreats at Dai Bosatsu Zendo, in the Catskills of upstate NY; in Tamarindo, Costa Rica, and as part of Michael Andreula's ReBoot Camp Retreats. She has been a featured presenter of workshops on Eastern philosophy and meditation at various businesses and organizations including the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Emmys) in New York City. She has presented Dance Alchemy for the Soul at the annual Conference for Global Transformation, attended by over 1,000 global leaders in initiatives including climate restoration, social justice, education reform and women's rights advocacy.
